Amansala was the name of Melissa's small import company selling interesting items collected on her world travels that is taken from the two Sanskrit words Peace and Water. While Melissa had toyed with the idea of starting a traveling spa, after 9/11 the idea lost its appeal and she decided to create a fixed location in one of her all time favorite places in the world, Tulum. After years of traveling through Southeast Asia and experiencing the best and the worst of hotels, she knew what she wanted to create. A place where people could come, solo or with their partners or friends, and have an adventure where they would meet other like minded people, eat good healthy food, be on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, and it would feel more like staying at a friends beach house than a hotel.

Erica, who had been working in Public Relations & Marketing in NYC, was ready for a change. She did not hesitate when Melissa suggested she join her in her latest adventure, and hence the two girls left the city behind and set out for Mexico.... together they created Amansala and Bikini Boot Camp on the beaches of Tulum, Mexico.

Amansala is all about getting back to basics, but with style and comfort and that is reflected from the moment you set foot on the property. To reach Amansala from the Cancun airport:

Follow the main highway south, towards Playa del Carmen and Tulum.You will stay on this highway until you reach Tulum pueblo, past Playa del Carmen, Puerto Aventuras and Akumal. Once you reach Tulum, turn left at the second stop light, towards Boca Paila and Punta Allen. At the end of the road, turn right and follow the road (it will get bumpy) about 5 kilometers (3.5 miles). Amansala will be on your left.
